曲に含まれる4 拍子の曲の小節がパターン化され、その統計的性質が自動作曲に応用された。小節パターンの調査の結果、パターンの出現頻度はジップの法則(Zipf's Law)に従い、隣接する小節のパターンパターン間の距離は15 半音の分布が最も多くなり、パターンの類似度は0.8 が最も出現頻度の高くなることが分かった。また、楽曲を小節パターンの出現頻度の順序列で表現し、その自己相関関数から小節パターンの連続構造を調査した。その結果、賛美歌には4 小節毎と8 小節毎に相関性の強い構造のあることが確認され、楽節と考えられる構造が自己相関関数によって検出できることが確認された。本論文では、得られた統計情報を基に計算機を用いて実験楽曲が作成された。実験楽曲はAHP
